We recently had an opportunity to upgrade application MS SQL SERVER database version 2005 to 2008. The journey was quite challenging as it required application compatibility and seamless switchover. The process involved cautious monitoring so that the important steps were not missed. Initially we engaged Microsoft’s premier support team to analyse the requirements before proceeding with the migration. A new SQL Server was implemented and the existing databases were ported to the new server. The installed application was later on tested by the end users to verify data integrity, application features, backup and restore, and performance. We provided end user training guide, application maintenance documents and system specifications guide.
