BIG DATA
Data is pouring out from every possible directions. The outpour of data is not something new, it is a trend that is being continued since 1970’s. This enormous data that is generated is around operational activity-system behavior, application performance, user activity and security performance. This enormously growing data is called Big Data.
More than 5 million people are calling, texting, tweeting and browsing on phones worldwide, that itself makes a huge contribution to the wide growing data. It is seen that 85% of an organizations data is unstructured. According to IDC the amount of data created and replicated is estimated to surpass 1.8 zetabytes(1.8 gigabytes).
Big Data faces challenges that includes issues of scale, heterogeneity, lack of structure, error handling, privacy, timeliness, provenance and visualization. The aim of big data is to harvest and harness every byte of Big Data and make the best use of it. Better analysis of large volumes of data will increase the probability of making faster advances in and improve the profitability and success of many enterprises.
Its our responsibility to think of ways to over come the challenges of Big Data in order to achieve the promised benefits of Big Data.
